Apple Crisp | Life at Spring Meadows | Gardening Living Creating

It’s that time of the year. Fresh apples. Good to eat straight from the tree, bake with cinnamon, brown sugar, and butter, or maybe a fresh apple cake that my aunt makes that is always so delicious. So many recipes and ideas running through my head! Today I chose to make Apple Crisp. It is a quick and easy recipe that is not short on taste at all! I used an iron skillet that belonged to my grandmother. If you don’t have an iron skillet, then use your favorite oven safe 2 quart dish.

A Little Info on Cast Iron Cookware

In order for an iron skillet to be used in baking, it needs to be seasoned. That takes time. And a story for another day about my using an iron skillet that was not seasoned. Lodge Cast Iron, a company that sells Cast Iron Cookware, has a great video and article on seasoning and care of Cast Iron Cookware. Bed Bath and Beyond also has a great selection of Cast Iron Cookware. Check them out . But also check with Flea Markets and Antique stores where you just might find some old cast iron skillets before I do!
