“You Have My Chair!”

“You Have My Chair!”

Lately, I have been on both sides of the line where I needed kind, loving words and then later, I needed to be the one to give them. God help us all to put things in perspective, pray for patience, wisdom, and kindness. Show love. Be slow to anger. Be ready to forgive and forget. There are far greater issues in this world than getting our feelings hurt …

Mary and the Hoosier Cabinet

In my kitchen sits an antique Hoosier cabinet, traditionally known as the “Kitchen Work Center” of the late 1800s to early 1930s. Years ago, a loving mother stood at this cabinet,…

When Life Brings the Unexpected

When Life Brings the Unexpected

Saturday morning without Joe in the house started like all others. Being the first one up, I poured a cup of coffee, opened my Bible to spend quiet time with God before the busy day began. The quiet lasted about 10 minutes before my 8-year-old, James, came bee-bopping down the hall, football in one hand, ready to start the day.

We drank coffee while I cooked breakfast. Josh, my teenager, typically likes to sleep late on Saturdays, but today he was up earlier than usual. The three of us enjoyed breakfast and then sat sipping coffee while discussing plans for Halloween. James was bitin’ at the bit to go outside to play

A Scarred Tree

A Scarred Tree

And as I awake each morning, looking out my bedroom window, this scarred tree is the first thing I see. Before my feet hit the floor, God uses it to remind me that no matter what the day brings, the day belongs to Him.

Our Sweet Hershey

Our Sweet Hershey

Last week a speeding driver hit my cat, Hershey. I was able to get to her before she died, held and loved her until she took her last breath. I understand these things happen, but for all of you speeders who are going 50 to 60 down a road that has a Speed Limit...

Backroad Traveler: Discovering Blackberry Tea

Backroad Traveler: Discovering Blackberry Tea

Traveling through the back roads of the Carolinas opens up an entirely new world that is both intriguing and educational. One of our discoveries while driving through a rural area in South Carolina was a small Blackberry Vineyard growing in the front yard of a home owner. We started our own blackberry garden last year, so this was something that caught our interest. We pulled into the drive, knocked on the door, and the gardener was more than pleased to give a tour

Open Your Eyes and Trust Me – Lessons Learned in the Storms of Life

We enjoy traveling and camping in our RV. Most of the roads we travel are interstates, but there are times our route takes us along backroads that are narrow and curvy. I enjoy the scenery, but I get a little anxious on these narrow roads when towing a loaded 37-foot 5th-wheel. It is not easy to stop if someone pulls out in front of you. Often, my husband will say, “Read your book” which means for me to read, relax, and trust him to get us where we are going.
