Faithful Friend and a Tennis Ball

Faithful Friend and a Tennis Ball

A faithful friend. We can’t go through life without one. Well, I suppose we could, but who wants to? We all need our friends. And a tennis ball. Or something.

Keepsake Box | Telling a Life Story of Long Ago

Keepsake Box | Telling a Life Story of Long Ago

While browsing through an old box of keepsakes that belonged to my Grandmother Headrick (Mama Headrick is what we all called her!), I found several folded newspaper ads, a quilting pattern, postmarked letters from her family in Mississippi, and numerous handwritten recipes. The image that came to mind as I glanced through the recipes was her kitchen. Every time I entered her house through the back door into the kitchen, I would always find leftover biscuits with smoked bacon or maybe her teacakes fresh out of the oven. She passed away in September 1977, and I am sure this box of keepsakes have been stored even long before her death.

Conversations at the Feeders

Conversations at the Feeders

Do you ever wonder about conversations between birds as they gather at the feeders? Well, I do. I see them watching one another, making sounds, maybe calling to other members of their flock (family) to join them for a meal.

Morning Walks In the Gardens

Morning Walks In the Gardens

One of my favorite and most relaxing times is spent in the gardens, walking down the pathways in the early morning hours. The sun is barely up as I begin; dampness from the night still lingers in the air. The leaves of trees and flowers glisten with morning dew. If I had chosen to not take the walk, I would have missed it!

Memories: Footprints on the Sands of Time

Sitting on the floor, I tenderly unfolded the paper and began to read the words once again, line by line. He was filled with a love for teaching, his students, and life itself. But here he was facing a change in life and leaving behind a part of himself. Yes, he gave a gift but the gift was not the words on the paper as I thought

Easter Tablescape “New Life, New Beginnings”

Incorporating the colors of springtime, our inspiration for this theme came from sitting on my porch one morning, enjoying coffee while watching the colors of springtime unfold. Such a beautiful canvas, much like a Monet painting…

The Heart of a Servant

The Heart of a Servant

I was given a gift yesterday. A beautiful and thoughtful gift. One that will be at a prominent place in my home. It is a wooden plaque made with my mother’s life scripture and the words, “Life’s Power.” It is a treasure that will always remind me of my mom, but also, a reminder of a beautiful group of ladies who love God and live to serve Him and others…

“You Have My Chair!”

“You Have My Chair!”

Lately, I have been on both sides of the line where I needed kind, loving words and then later, I needed to be the one to give them. God help us all to put things in perspective, pray for patience, wisdom, and kindness. Show love. Be slow to anger. Be ready to forgive and forget. There are far greater issues in this world than getting our feelings hurt …
