“There is a deep contentment in watching the day unfold and knowing every detail bears the touch of our Creator.” Sandi

2025 Snow day.

We have a seasonal creek that runs through our property at the back. It is a quiet place where the world stands still even if just for a moment. I enjoy the way the creek changes with each season, offering a totally different look with the changing foliage around it. Along the bank of the creek, you will find trees with moss, wild flowers, ferns, and the signs of prints left in the soft dirt from deer drinking from the water. The rocks found in and on the banks of the creek are worn from the water flowing over and around them, creating some interest in their shapes.

I often grabbed a cup of coffee in the early morning while dew is still on the ground and make our through the pasture down to the creek. It soul-soothing slow walk and releases anything that wants to hang on from the day before. My walk signifies a fresh new day full of opportunities.

Step outside. Take deep breaths. Inhale grace, exhale praise as you take a slow walk, aware of the beauty around you. Today, no matter where you are or what you have scheduled for your day, take moments to slow down. Soak in the beauty around you as your burdens fall into the hands of the One who loves you with an unconditional deep love.

Pause and Reflect

  • When was the last time you slowed down long enough to truly notice the beauty around you?
  • What small moments in your day might be quiet blessings waiting to be recognized?
  • How can you create more unhurried moments in your daily life?
  • Have you ever felt that God was speaking to you through an ordinary scene?

Let’s Pray

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for the quiet gifts You place within our ordinary days. For birds that sing, for sunlight that warms, and for moments that invite us to slow our hurried steps. Help us to notice the beauty that surrounds us and to recognize Your loving hand in even the smallest details of life. Teach us to be still long enough to hear Your voice in the rustling leaves and morning breezes. Fill our hearts with gratitude for simple blessings and give us wisdom to learn from Your creation. May we trust Your protection, follow Your gentle guidance, and rest in the comfort of knowing we are never alone.

Let our days be shaped by wonder, our thoughts by thankfulness, and our lives by consistent faith. In Jesus’ name, amen.

The heavens declare the glory of God,
and the expanse proclaims the work of his hands. — Psalm 19:1 (NIV).
