This beautiful vine showed up in one of our flower gardens a couple of years ago. After researching, I discovered it is in the Morning Glory family. Often called the Hummingbird Flower, I soon discovered why! The hummingbirds love it as well as the bees and butterflies.
It is an annual that comes back each year from the seeds that have fallen to the ground. I have read that it can be invasive but I have only one area where this has been growing for over two years. When the season comes to an end in the fall of the year, I simply remove the vines that have died back. The seeds spout in the spring for a late summer bloom and continues to bloom until late fall in our area. This past year I harvested some of the seeds to share with garden friends.
I think it would be beautiful on a trellis. It likes to climb!
