A garden pond is a wonderful place to relax anytime of the day or night!
Our garden pond was built in 2001, then moved it to its current location, just a few feet away, in 2013 during the home renovation and new addition. The new pond size offered the fish more room to swim! We have Koi, Fantail Goldfish, Shubunkin Goldfish, Comets, and a few others that have been born in the pond that we are still trying to identify!
Blooms and Landscaping in Garden Ponds
Perennials and shrubs such as Loropetalum, roses and hydrangeas surround the pond. The pond is filled with shade plants that provide shelter from the sun and protection from prey for the fish. There are also water lilies and a beautiful lotus plant that was placed in the original pond and continues to bloom year after year.
Filtering System for Garden Ponds
A biological filtering system was added in 2012 that makes maintenance a breeze. The system cleans the water of toxic gases and ammonia as it constantly circulates the water. Healthy pond, healthy fish.
Personalities of Fish in the Garden Pond
We have learned that our fish actually have personalities! They each have earned a name due to their behavior. One is named Dale, Jr. Can you imagine why? He is fast and speedy through the water!
Enjoy the pictures and if you are interested in more information about building and maintaining your own Garden Pond, please contact us. We have learned from our mistakes!

Sandi, we enjoyed our visit and tour of your lovely gardens. Your pond is truly a beautiful and tranquil place! Liana was especially thrilled with the colorful fish, and, of course, the mini frogs were her highlight!
It is always a joy to share our home and gardens with others, Tina! I love to watch the children as they play with the fish. Liana is a beautiful, sweet child and a joy! It was a fun day hosting her birthday party!
Your Garden Pond is just beautiful and so are the colorful fish!!!! I’ve always wanted one of those! The rocks all around it look great! So pretty! I want to see your back yard some time! However, look for me to turn GREEN (with envy) while I’m there!!! Just kidding!
Kay, I look forward to you visiting! Our pond is one of our favorite outdoor features. Ben, the big yellow Koi, likes to do flips in the water and play under the waterfall early in the mornings! I usually find myself with a cup of coffee, sitting on the porch overlooking the pond, and being entertained by Ben!
