Sweet Hershey

Sweet Hershey

Last week a speeding driver hit my cat, Hershey. I was able to get to her before she died, held and loved her until she took her last breath.

I understand these things happen, but for all of you speeders who are going 50 to 60 down a road that has a Speed Limit sign that reads “20 mph,” it is extreme speed. The driver who hit Hershey could not have slowed down enough if they had tried (which they didn’t!).

It makes me very sad about my Hershey, she was a sweet heart (well, she and I did have a difference of opinion about the birds). I have been concerned for a long time about speeders and the kids walking up and down our road.  I worry that speeding drivers could not slow down enough for them either.  One morning recently while on a walk,  a speeding van came around the curve, scattering gravel all over me.

I am begging everyone to please slow down. Don’t be in such a hurry. Life passes too fast anyway. Now you all know how much I love you and even if you are one of the speeders, I still love you. Just please, please slow down.
