2 cups sugar
4 tablespoons cocoa
1 stick butter (not imitation; the real thing!), cut up pieces (melts faster)
1/2 cup evaporated milk
3/4 cup peanut butter
1 tsp. vanilla
2 3/4 cups Quick Cooking oatmeal
Waxed paper
Directions
In a heavy saucepan, mix sugar and cocoa until blended together. Add milk and stir well. Add butter. Bring to a boil and then boil for 1 minute, no longer (and no less!). Add peanut butter and vanilla. After peanut butter is completely blended, then add oatmeal quickly, adding 2 1/2 cups to begin with, then add the remainder of the oatmeal if needed. Most of the time I only add 2 1/2 cups of the oatmeal.
On a sheet of waxed paper, drop mixture by the teaspoonfuls. Let cool. Store in an airtight container.
* Note: I use Old Fashioned Oatmeal instead of the Quick Cooking Oats that the recipe calls for because I like the taste of the oatmeal better.
