What a fun day with our family for our Easter celebration. After attending church together, we had a wonderful meal with good conversation and lots of laughter and joy around the table.

Our meal included ham with ham sauce, baked potato casserole, green bean casserole, peach fruit salad, slaw, corn salad, stuffed eggs, and homemade yeast rolls. For dessert, we enjoyed coconut cake, lemon pie, and chocolate brownies.

The tablescape featured colors of purple and green, and included the beautiful limelight hydrangeas. I even found some green ceramic birdbaths that fit perfect for the theme.

White linen napkins were folded to look like bunny ears. Here is a YouTube video that does a great job showing how to fold these napkins.

Glass jars in purple and green (picked up at Hobby Lobby) were filled with Easter grass, then I buried chocolate eggs in the grass. The bunny ear napkins were pushed into the easter grass. Even though I didn’t plan to use the jars to hold the napkins, it turned out to be the perfect way to hold the shape of the folded napkins.

Three tables were decorated and each table had something a little different and unique from the others. On one of the tables I used a crocheted lace tablecloth made by my mom many years ago.

Since the purpose of having a meal together is good conversation, my centerpieces are designed to not block the view across the table so guests enjoy conversation with one another. I often just sit and listen to the sound of voices of those I love. These are always beautiful times making memories with family.

Our annual Easter egg hunt is something all ages look forward to. My husband and I hid the plastic eggs (filled with candy and money) early in the morning before anyone arrived. We can do some creative egg hiding! At times, weeks after Easter, we find the eggs that we hid in the most unexpected places.

After the egg hunt, we had a “family style” softball game, the kind that included Callie, our golden retriever, who runs off with the ball every opportunity she can. We spend more time chasing after her than we do actually playing the game. Even the cats got into the game, making us laugh as they chased the ball!

When these family dinners are over and I kick my shoes off at the end of the day, I can honestly say, “It was worth it all!”
