A Little Info on Cast Iron Cookware
In order for an iron skillet to be used in baking, it needs to be seasoned. That takes time. And a story for another day about my using an iron skillet that was not seasoned. Lodge Cast Iron, a company that sells Cast Iron Cookware, has a great video and article on seasoning and care of Cast Iron Cookware. Bed Bath and Beyond also has a great selection of Cast Iron Cookware. Check them out . But also check with Flea Markets and Antique stores where you just might find some old cast iron skillets before I do!Gather Up Some Apples and Let’s Start Cooking!

Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Place apples slices in a 2 quart baking dish. Pour the water and lemon juice over the sliced apples and stir to coat the slices. In a large bowl, combine flour, oats, sugar, and salt. Stir to blend. Cut in butter until mixture is coarse crumbs. Mix in walnuts. Sprinkle crumb mixture evenly over apple slices, covering slices completely. Bake for 40 minutes until top is lightly browned. Serve warm with fresh whipped cream or vanilla ice cream on top.Discover more from Sandi Herron - Life at Spring Meadows

Must try. Sounds delicious. A friend recently had a huge crop of pears. I thought about trying to bake a pear cobbler. Sorry, another subject!
Yum, Janice, a pear cobbler sounds great! I am enjoying all the fruits in season, including pears. My mom always made Pear Honey. Very good!
This looks delicious.
Give it a try, Penny! It is so good. I cut back on the sugar from my original recipe because we usually have whipped cream or ice cream as a topping. This recipe is the one with less sugar.
