“I’ve been standing in the hallway, waiting for her to invite me in. Been here for at least 30 seconds.

The keyboard clicking and her laughter show me she is in another world. If I bark, I’ll scare her, and she will fall out of her chair. It’s happened. It gets me in trouble. But it also gets her attention.

You think she is writing a story about me?

I think I can sneak in and lie under her desk and play quietly with my squeaky toy. She won’t even notice.

It’s been an entire minute now. Too long. Seems like a lifetime. I can’t wait. I’m going in!”

Daisy Mae

Daisy Mae has been with us now for a year and what a wonderful but challenging year it has been.

When she came to us in early January 2024, a cuddly ball of fur, I could not hold her because I was in the middle of a severe case of the shingles. Yes I did! But after a while, I found ways to hold her with a blanket around me and we had a lot of snuggle time.

It seems like overnight she grew those long legs and now she loves to be outside running and playing with the cats.

Her best buddy, Monty (an English chocolate lab who belongs to our son), went home to Virginia. He was with us for almost a year and she sure does miss him. I’ll post some videos of the two of them playing. What fun!

Life with Daisy Mae is an adventure each day. She is smart, sweet, curious, and full of energy! She keeps us going and doing our best to keep up with her.

More stories about Daisy Mae coming soon. But until then, I leave you with our photogenic girl who loves her tennis balls. And being outside. She also loves sticks. More later.

Daisy Mae loves her tennis ball.

A dog’s joy brings us happiness. It’s hard to be sad living with a happy, bouncy dog. ~ Sandi
