Each year, we select a theme for our Christmas Tablesetting and Decorations. For 2017, we chose a Snowman Theme.
From a Frosty inflatable that greeted passersby to Christmas mugs for hot chocolate, everything was Snowman.
Adding to our snowman theme, early in December, the landscape was blanketed with the perfect snow! It came, lasted all day, and created a winter wonderland. With cloudy skies, outdoor Christmas lights, and snow falling, it was a Christmas we seldom see in the South.
Each year, I purchase ornaments for our table setting. After Christmas, the ornaments are packed away until the following Christmas when they adorn the tree along with collections from previous years. In 2017, instead of purchased ornaments, my granddaughters age 10 and 6, helped design and paint snowmen on canvas for each member of our family. Each ornament was designed specifically for a family member.
My 10-year-old granddaughter designed and painted a canvas ornament just for me! She included the things I enjoy – a flower, garden apron, earbuds while listening to podcasts as I work in the garden, holding a shovel, a butterfly on my pink hat, and of course, a bird. She knows me so well! I will treasure this forever!
