A container garden is an attractive method of gardening with less work than the traditional in-ground method and gives high yield in fresh, healthy produce. Using containers makes it easier to control soil and watering needs as well as sunlight and fertilizer.<\/p>\n

\nBe creative by using large containers or grouping small pots. Herbs in small pots surrounded by marigolds or other summer annuals make an attractive display. Some of my herbs are planted in old boots and placed around the gardens. All types of pots can be used such as decorative, plastic, or clay.<\/p>\n

Be careful not to overcrowd the container, but it is good to mix different types of plants (we will talk companion plants in another post). Too many plants in the pot will demand more watering.<\/p>\n
