Recently, I spent the day with my youngest granddaughter, her classmates, teachers and other parents and grandparents at the Griffin Farm Pumpkin Patch<\/a>. Since I was not familiar with the farm, we followed someone who knew the way by driving through back roads, passing farms, lakes, and beautiful pastures with horses. It was slower travel than a major highway but the scenery was so tranquil. Even the raindrops hitting my windshield could not put a damper on this beautiful day driving down the country roads. This “Backroad Traveler<\/a>” was certainly enjoying the view with a little 4-year-old in tow!<\/p>\n

As we made our way along the winding countryside, we played a game of “I See,” naming the colors we see in the changing leaves and foliage. We discovered colors of green, yellow, bronze, blue, black, white and shades of purple and gold. I asked if we had missed a color and she named pink. Pink was the only color we had not seen. She began the challenge to find pink somewhere in the landscape and finally, just as we turned onto the dirt (muddy) road leading to the farm, she saw a tree with shades of purple and maroon, but some of the leaves had faded to a subtle hint of pink. Oh, how I love the beautiful warm colors of autumn where it seems that not a color is missing in the landscape! Just as we parked, the rain increased but excited 4-year-olds were ready for fun in spite of the weather. An hour later, the rain subsided, the sun came out, and we enjoyed our day petting the animals, playing in the corn cribs, climbing hay mountain, and finally, after a wagon ride to the pumpkin patch, we headed home with bright orange pumpkins to decorate!<\/p>\n

Fall is Here! Life at Spring Meadows | Gardening Living Creating<\/p><\/div>\n

Is it really the end of October? It came so fast!<\/p>\n

My house finally looks like fall, decorated inside and out with pumpkins, corn stalks and hay bales (corn stalks and hay outside only!), plus floral arrangements made with dried flowers from the summer gardens. The tablerunner and placemats are finished and the tablescape is complete. Wreaths are hung on all the doors and pumpkin scented candles are placed throughout the house. It is time for pumpkin bread, baked sweet potatoes, and fried apple pies. Yes, fall is definitely here and I will be sharing my decorations with you in another post! But before I do, I want you to meet some of my incredibly creative friends! (Here is a photo hint of my tablescape and front porch!)<\/p>\n
