I stopped and aimed my camera to capture the moment.

The hawk watched intently, even posing for me, shifting positions on its perch to offer a different view of its beauty. At one point, our eyes locked. It seemed as if the hawk was looking into my soul, my very being. It was a “wow” moment.

Thirty pictures later, the beautiful hawk took flight, signaling the end of the photo session. It circled one last time before flying higher, out of sight. I felt a sense of disappointment when our time together ended; I wasn’t ready for the hawk to leave. I was enjoying the silent communication between the two of us. Maybe another day he will return. I will watch and wait.

Continuing my walk, I felt a sense of gratitude that God allows times like this for us to see His handiwork, His creation, and to know these moments are no coincidence; a loving God divinely arranges them. But we often miss these valuable, life-changing moments when we rush through life, busy, and cluttered. God is with us every moment of our days, even in small, ordinary things. When we are watching and waiting, we find Him watching and waiting.

God used the hawk to remind me I am never alone; He is always there, even when I take my walks through the woods. Psalm 139 is my life Scripture. It is one that God has often used in my life as a reminder that even when I feel alone, He is always there!

Psalm 139:1-10 (NLT)
1 O Lord, you have examined my heart and know everything about me.
2 You know when I sit down or stand up. You know my thoughts even when I’m far away.
3 You see me when I travel and when I rest at home. You know everything I do.
4 You know what I am going to say even before I say it, Lord.
5 You go before me and follow me. You place your hand of blessing on my head.
6 Such knowledge is too wonderful for me, too great for me to understand!
7 I can never escape from your Spirit! I can never get away from your presence!
8 If I go up to heaven, you are there; if I go down to the grave,[a] you are there.
9 If I ride the wings of the morning, if I dwell by the farthest oceans,
10 even there your hand will guide me, and your strength will support me.
11 If I say, “Surely the darkness will hide me and the light become night around me,”
12 even the darkness will not be dark to you; the night will shine like the day, for darkness is as light to you.
13 For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb.
14 I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.
15 My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place when I was woven together in the depths of the earth.
16 Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.
17 How precious to me are your thoughts, God! How vast is the sum of them!
18 Were I to count them, they would outnumber the grains of sand— when I awake, I am still with you.

HE is God of all creation.
