Early this morning, while walking my golden retriever Daisy Mae, I noticed an unusual iris blooming. It didn’t look like those around it. It’s different. When it first bloomed in the iris garden 10 years ago, I thought it had a problem with its bloom or a disease in the rhizome. But for 10 years, it keeps showing up, blooming differently than all the others. And I love it just like it is. It’s beautiful. Unique. Stands out in a group of irises that all look the same. It was transformed from the inside out. It is a story about grace.<\/span>

The Bible study series I am writing is titled Covenant Love and the lesson I finished this morning is Transformational Covenant Love.\u00a0<\/span>The lesson includes the focus scripture, Romans 12:2, “Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.”<\/span>

Notice that Paul doesn\u2019t just tell us what not to do. He gives us the key to living differently: \u201cLet God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think.\u201d Transformation begins from the inside out. It starts with our thoughts, our mindset, and ultimately our hearts. As we surrender our lives to God, He begins to renew our minds, replacing worldly values with divine truth, self-seeking ambition with God\u2019s purpose for our lives.<\/span>

Each day, as we choose to follow Christ, we become more and more like Him. Our actions, attitudes, and thoughts reflect His character, and through that, we shine as lights in the darkness. We become the uncommon bloom in a garden full of irises, transformed by our Creator.<\/span>

We are all a daily work in progress. Thankful for a transformed iris that keeps showing up year after year to remind me of truths from God\u2019s Word. The story this iris is telling is one of grace.<\/span>

I love gardening. And walks with Daisy Mae who is learning to not pick up every stick in her path.
