I am glad you have stopped for a visit. Take time to stroll through the pages of my site and let's get to know one another.

I am in love with life and enjoy numerous hobbies. Here is a summary of a few things I enjoy; the others you will discover throughout the website.

The manual typewriter you see in the picture has been around as long as I can remember. It was my dad's and later became mine. My brothers and I learned to type on this vintage machine. Occasionally, I type on it just to hear the sound of the hammer as it swings up to leave its intended mark. Each time I place my hands on the keys, I step back in time to simpler days before technology stormed our world. It is also a reminder of using care with the way we approach life; sometimes whiteout is not an option.

Life at Spring Meadows

In the fall of 1973, a strapping, good-looking young country/cowboy went to the State Fair with a friend. Meanwhile in another city, a young girl, part country but with a city side as well, paired with a group of girls for a fun night at the fair. Yes, you guessed it. That country/cowboy and this country/city girl met on the fairway at the Alabama State Fair and married one year later to the sound of "Until the Twelfth of Never." Why "Twelfth of Never?" We met October 12, and I loved the Donnie Osmond song! I was and still am a romantic! Since then, we have created a beautiful life that includes two wonderful and amazing grown kids. Our daughter and her husband have blessed us with two of the sweetest and most beautiful granddaughters ever. You will read stories about our grandkids and see lots of pictures of them! Our son is married to a beautiful girl from Columbia and we are doing our best to learn Spanish! Thankful she is so smart and learning English! We run a small farm with fruit, flower, and vegetable gardens, fruit trees, a blackberry patch, two dogs, three cats, horses, and a pond full of fish!

[caption id="attachment_4348" align="aligncenter" width="700"] Spring Meadows | Backyard View[/caption]

[caption id="attachment_4082" align="alignright" width="300"]<img class="size-medium wp-image-4082" src="https://sandiherron.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/background_aug12-300x225.jpg" alt="Firing up the large barbecue pit in the gazebo's outdoor kitchen. Ready for some southern style bbq ribs![/caption]

Where we live is called Spring Meadow Farms. It was named that before we found it. I think the name drew me before I even saw the land with the stream running through it. The moment I first stepped onto our land, I knew it would be the place we call home and it would be here, with our children, we would make a lifetime of memories.

Seeing Life Through the Lens of My Camera

My camera is to me what a pen is to paper. I have a passion for photography! I am not a "posed setting" photographer but a life photographer. That includes people in motion and living life. Animals, gardens, nature, landscapes, and seeing unexpected things through the lens of the camera.

Some of my favorite shots have been surprises found after a photography outing and viewing the photos for editing. Here is one of my favorites taken a few years ago on a walk through the woods. Photography surprises I love!

The People in My Life

I love people. Deeply. In addition to my family (Have I told you about my grandkids???), my life is enriched with friends, neighbors, and my community. I love crazy people, lovable people, and not-so-lovable people. Combine my love for people with a joy for baking and cooking, then I am one happy girl sharing a home-cooked meal with family and friends.

Check out our Tablescapes (I have a passion for designing Tablescapes!).

My childhood memories are filled with a life surrounded by uncles, aunts, cousins and those that I thought were family because we spent a lot of time together and I didn't know the difference. I felt loved, secure, and happy. If I ever got out of line, then I had a lot of 'splainin to do to a host of people!

Porch Sitting | Where Life Stands Still

[caption id="attachment_4350" align="alignleft" width="300"] Life at Spring Meadows | Gardening Living Creating | Porch View[/caption]

Throughout my life, a porch has been the place where friends and family gather and time stands still. It is the place where stories are shared, laughter can be heard, and the scent of wild honeysuckle fills the air. I recall many summer evenings enjoying a cold glass of iced tea and good conversation. It is my belief that in everyone there is a story to tell; sometimes we just have to dig deep to find it. It is on the porch where many people seem to discover their story as they relax and unwind from the busyness of life.

Weaving Stories of Life

I love writing, weaving a story together while taking you on a journey. When I was too young to recall much of anything else, I remember coloring books my mother created for me with her drawings and artwork. She taught me how to illustrate my writings by using Sears & Roebuck catalogs and a pair of scissors. Together, we cut out characters and objects and glued them to the pages to illustrate the stories I wrote. Later in life, I developed a successful graphics design business specializing in Advertising and Web Design/Development.

Gardening Life and Farming Love

Growing up on a farm, I learned to work in the garden alongside my parents and grandparents. Later, my kind and patient father-in-law taught me even more about gardening. My love for flowers was learned from my mother who always had the most beautiful flower gardens of anyone in our neighborhood.

Check out the Memory Garden built in honor of my mother.

The Creative Side of Life

My creative side includes painting, drawing, sewing, woodworking, and crafting using recycled and repurposed items.

Check out graphics I have created (Free Resources) just for you!

My Deepest Passion: What Counts the Most

But of all the things I enjoy, my deepest passion is for God, serving Him and serving others. He is the driving force behind everything I do.

God holds my world together. But at times if my world seems to be falling apart, He just keeps holding me until He puts the pieces back together again.

Check out my Life Notes section.

Getting to Know One Another

Let's get to know one another!
